9 subspecies are in JAPAN. This is a Dendrocopos kizuki ijimae. Living in the most northern area, HOKKAIDO. Male and female were building a nest by turns.

I heard a song of bird. Not a song but like a screaming. It's must be a Japanese Sparrowhawk. They come for a migratory bird and breed in Japan.
I looked up and around woods. Just I found a male with red eyes. It called a female for feeding. After that I found another male. Males fight over territory and being a partner of female having beautiful yellow eyes. Female got a feed as a present by male. Which male ? I don't know. : ) Beautiful Lady ? Common Scoter thronged together in the shore of the northern JAPAN. Drift ice floated on the surface on the horizon. Common Scoters gethered in the opening the drift ice. The time of returning to the north will come soon.
